The Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI), inaugurated in 2014, is Morocco’s first public museum dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Located in Rabat, it embodies the royal vision of promoting culture and art in Morocco. The museum houses a collection of more than 400 works by Moroccan artists from the 20th and 21st centuries, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations. Designed by architect Karim Chakor, the building harmoniously combines traditional Moroccan architecture with modern elements. It also hosts temporary exhibitions showcasing emerging artists and contemporary movements. With its mission to preserve and promote Morocco’s artistic heritage while encouraging contemporary creativity, the Mohammed VI Museum has established itself as a must-see destination for art lovers in Rabat.
