Mohamed Lyazidi Boulevard - Hassan

Overlooking the Hassan Tower esplanade, the Mohammed V Mausoleum is one of Rabat’s most iconic monuments. This sacred site houses the tombs of His Majesty King Mohammed V, hero of Moroccan independence, and those of his two sons, King Hassan II and Prince Moulay Abdallah. Built between 1962 and 1971, the mausoleum is a jewel of traditional Moroccan architecture. Its elegant silhouette, immaculate white marble, green pyramidal roof, zellige mosaics, and meticulous sculptures make it a true masterpiece of Islamic art. The interior, adorned with marble, carved wood, and gilding, inspires contemplation and admiration. Royal guards stand guard in full dress uniform at the entrance, adding to the solemnity of the place. The Mausoleum is open to the public and is a must-see for anyone visiting Rabat, at the crossroads of history, architecture, and national tribute.
